About This Project

Mr.Srinivas Holla

Project: Residence of Mr. Srinivas Holla at Whitefield, Bangalore

Design dealt: Architectural, interiors

Area: Site area – 6900 sq. ft         Built-up area – 3900 sq. ft

Theme: A countryside courtyard home inter-woven with today’s lifestyle, enhances the essence of a courtyard home. The internal spaces have been seamlessly segregated by the open-to-sky court, also housing the puja room decorated with Worli Art that forms the fulcrum carrying the rest of the house around it. Polished Lavender Granite flooring and plastered walls contrast the contemporary and rustic earthy building elements. The exterior puts forth a modern finesse to this traditional Indian home. Efficient fenestration allows a beautiful view of the fore garden and ensures cross-ventilation all through the year. The bungalow showcases the concept of a ‘green home’ in material use and design, along with practical planning and the sky-lit courtyard with clear storey vents and double-height windows that maximize the use of natural sources of light and ventilation. The damp-proofed walls negotiating the rooting media of the retained coconut trees manages a basement parking too. This ‘courtyard house’ is not an import from its predecessors, but, has been fused into the urban environ celebrating the concept of being one with nature ‘inside out’.
